About Us

Founded in 2001, Second Chance Pet Adoptions is a non-profit 501(c)(3) No-Kill animal rescue dedicated to the memory of all animals who were caged, hunted, beaten, tortured, starved, chained, exploited, abandoned or simply ignored.

Our mission is to find a permanent, loving home for each cat and kitten in our care, and to reduce the overpopulation of cats in the community, through an aggressive trap-neuter-return program.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions educates the public as to the proper care and needs of their pets, provides information on existing animal cruelty and abandonment laws, and informs the public of the importance of spaying and neutering their pets.

We also provide a service to the community by providing pet adoptions designed to benefit both the animal and the adopting party. We ensure the animals under our protection are taken care of in the best way possible. Our adoption process includes a veterinary health check for the animal and screening of the prospective owner, to help ensure that the pet and its new owner will be compatible. If for any reason they are not compatible, we take back the pet, who will again be offered for adoption.

Second Chance Pet Adoptions is a 100% volunteer organization. We do not receive any government assistance and rely solely on donations to provide services for the animals in our care.

What We Do

Medical Costs for stray, abandoned, and abused animals. Many animals given to us are in need of medical treatment. Second Chance pays for necessary tests, treatment and medicines to bring these animals back to good health.

Surgery for animals that require life-saving procedures, from mending broken legs to having delicate eye and ear surgery.

Foster Care - Second Chance recruits families to provide in home care for baby animals until they are old enough to be placed for adoption and for sick animals until they are well.

Dental Costs for animals that have severe problems with their teeth, including abscesses and gum diseases.

Spay/Neuter Costs - in our efforts to prevent unwanted litters, we pay for the spaying and neutering of all of our animals before they are adopted to a new home.

Micro-Chip - Second Chance has each of our animals implanted with a micro-chip to insure their safe return should they get lost.

Trap-Neuter-Return - We provide humane trapping services to individuals and businesses who need help with feral and stay cats. All trapped cats are spayed or neutered, micro-chipped, ear-tipped and given needed veterinary care. The cats are then returned to where they were trapped.

Special Needs Animals - Second Chance assists families who adopt a pet with special on-going medical treatment or medication. We also furnish kitten and puppy formula for abandoned "wee-ones," vitamins or dietary supplements to insure many of these animals are nursed back to good health.

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
